Shot in the face, Jamie says he's still lucky

The first bullet hit him like a burning punch to the guts. It tore through his flesh, grazing his liver, and a kidney, before ricocheting off his spine and exploding out through the muscle of his back. Jamie Ryan, 20, tried to run. But his leg wouldn't work.

The second bullet hit him as he fell, shooting up through his jaw and out through his cheek, shattering teeth and bone before embedding itself in the couch in the living room of the tiny Waharoa cottage. It landed right next to the bullet from the first round.
